The French daybed is an iconic French lounge sofa that is unique in many ways. As the name suggests, the daybed has been designed to cater for both sitting and reclining comfort and offers a great combination of style, comfort and versatility. We offer both the Louis XV style daybed, with cabriole legs, scalloped apron and scrolled arms, as well as the Louis XVI style daybed with straighter shapes and neo-classical lines. Our French daybeds have a deep timber frame with high and narrow timber carved sides, which offer great support as well as being a wonderful decorative element. The proportions of the daybed mean that for the length of the sofa, you get more sitting space and its size also allows it to be used as a single bed.

There are a number of variations of the traditional daybed, and at Christophe Living we offer the daybeds in a three-seater (2.3 m long) and a two and a half seater size (1.8m long). Our seat cushions are available with three different fills: feather and fill, feather wrap, which gives a firmer seat, or high quality luxura triple foam. The back cushions are filled with feather and fill. We also offer the option of a backless daybed, which would usually be set against the wall. The daybed can be upholstered in fabric of your choice, including leather, and we also offer the option of a carved back timber rail or an upholstered back. Our frames are carved out of solid European beech, which can be polished, creating an elegant French provincial sofa or painted to give you a more French country sofa. All finishing options are completed at our Sydney workshop.
