Teak Outdoor Carver Chair With Arms | Hamptons Provincial — Ivory

French & Hamptons Style

The Hamptons Provincial Outdoor Carver is the side chair with arms — the two chairs at the ends of the table, which is where most of the conversation happens and where the extra width earns its place. Three shaped ladder rails rise to a crest rail centred on a hand-carved scallop shell, flanked by turned acorn finials. The arms terminate in carved spiral volutes matching those on the lounge seating, tying the dining and lounge halves of the collection together. The apron is shaped and scalloped with a second carved shell, and the legs are cabriole.

  • Solid plantation teak, traditionally jointed and hand-carved
  • Scrolled arm terminals, carved on the outer face, matching the lounge seating
  • Shaped three-rail ladder back with turned acorn finials
  • Hand-carved scallop shell to the crest rail and to the front apron
  • Tie-on seat cushion in plain ivory outdoor canvas (the blue toile de Jouy version is its own product — linked below); also supplied bare
  • Standard or reticulated quick-drain outdoor foam

A Carved Teak Carver for the Head of an Outdoor Table

Two carvers and six side chairs is the standard dining setting for the 1800 table; two carvers and eight side chairs for the 2250. Some clients specify carvers all round, which is more expensive and considerably more comfortable. The arms are set at a height that clears the table apron, so the chair can be pushed fully in.

Solid plantation teak, traditionally jointed and hand-carved in our Indonesian workshop. Finished in Rubio Monocoat limewash as standard — a hardwax oil that penetrates the timber rather than coating it, so the grain remains visible and the surface can be spot-repaired rather than stripped. Also available raw, or in any of our house finishes.

The seat at the head of the table — and the one nobody wants to give up.

Care: Teak requires no sealing or oiling. Left uncovered the limewash mellows toward silver-grey over one to two seasons; under cover it holds its pale honey tone. An annual wash with mild soapy water is all the timber asks. Cushions should be brought under cover overnight and protected in poor weather.
