Formal Louis Dining Tables

March 3, 2019

At Christophe Living we provide a wide range of dining room tables varying both in style, size, shape and finish. Our dining tables use components carved in Italy and then assembled and finished here in Sydney to allow for customisation to your needs. In our style range are Louis XVI, Louis XV, French provincial, French farmhouse, refectory and parquet tables.

Louis XVI style dining tables are refined and elegant, with fluted turned legs and Louis XVI rope carving on the apron, which is typical of that period. On the top of the leg sits a Louis XVI rosette carved into the solid timber, which enhances its delicate French look. In our Louis XVI collection we have a round table, which comes in a number of sizes, with or without extensions. We also offer a Louis XVI rectangular dining table, which also comes with or without extensions. Tables can be extended to up to 24 seaters, with every step in between. Our Louis XVI dining tables are made from European beech, and can be polished in a number of shades or painted to your requirement.

The Louis XV provincial dining table is distinguished by its cabriole legs and scalloped apron and it is often dressed with ornate carvings. In our collection we have rectangular tables, which are available in a range of sizes from 6-20 seaters, with or without extension. The tables are available in European oak or cherry wood, polished in a number of shades or painted to your exact requirements.

We also have in our collection, a Louis XIV dining table. It is styled with square tapered legs with carved details and a straight apron also with carved ornamentation. The table is well suited to a polished finish or antique white painted finish, the carvings can be highlighted with gilding or another contrasting colour.

Our Bordeaux range has many provincial qualities and comes with a traditional French table top with a classic mitred frame around the outside edges, sometimes with a centre divider. We also offer parquet table tops, also with a mitred frame. These tables can come with or without extension and can be polished in a number of shades or painted to your requirement.

The table extension that we offer is a traditional French extension mechanism, which is both popular and easy to operate. The extensions are stored at each end of the table and slip underneath the top. The width of our tables can also be customised anywhere from 0.9-1.2m and anything in between to best suit your table arrangement.

For the polished timber finished we use a number of traditional techniques which have been refined over the years. We hand-rub stains to create subtle highlights and polish the table with the best quality finish to enhance the beauty and retain the natural feel and lustre as well as catering for easy maintenance. All of our tables are then waxed by hand with our special wax compound, giving that natural French antique radiance that only hand treated finishing can give.
