With its French flair, the farmhouse table is a true French country classic. It is characterised by its tapered legs and straight apron and is well suited for either a classic or modern French provincial setting. The table is available with a plank or parquet top with or without extensions. This versatile table can be painted or polished to requirements to create your unique French setting.
The French refectory table is a much-loved classic. It has a robust French country quality that doesn’t worry about wear and tear rather it celebrates it. The table usually comes with a thick frame top and is particularly suited to be made from oak, as this reflects it’s distinctive qualities of strength and durability. The French refectory table offer versatility in terms of chair placement as instead of for legs it has two centred pedestals. Its solid quality evokes true country craftsmanship and highlights the strength and beauty of the timber.
Many of our tables can also be made in smaller sized to be used as a desk or hall table. With each table we have a unique measuring system to create the best-sized table for you. This is based on the size of your room, preferred chair and number of chairs you wish to fit around the table. For each dining table, we have designed and hand picked a number of chairs that are best suited to the table and enhance the dining setting.
All of our tables are made from sustainable growth timbers and handcrafted with traditional mitre, tenon joints and table tops. Our tables are all carved and constructed to allow for and reduce the natural expansion and contraction of timbers in modern homes.
The painted finish on our dining tables is achieved by first preparing the table with a special undercoat and then hand-brushing to give a natural look. If desired, we then run an antique wash over the table and seal the top surface for ease of maintenance and durability.
We can also provide glass sheeting as an overlay to the table, which further protects the surface.
