The French day bed is the ultimate addition to any lounge room. It adds that quintessential French touch to an interior and can be dressed up formally or presented more casually. Not only does the daybed look great, it is also one of the most comfortable lounge options available. With its deep seat, it offers great comfort and versatility, giving plenty of leg room for you to relax. The daybed lounge has a number of customization options for you to choose from. And our interior designer can help you choose the right look for your lounge room.
The Louis daybed lounge comes in two sizes, a 2.5 seater and 3-seater option depending on your needs and space available. The frames are Italian carved and finished here in our Sydney workshop according to your preferences. You can choose the finish, the upholstery styles, the trims and fabric. The 2.5 seater measures 1.8m long by one meter deep. The three seater lounge measures 2.3 m long by 1m deep.
The timber finish options range from a light to dark timber finish depending on what will look best with your other lounge room furniture. The timber finishes look great if you have a timber coffee table, side table or other timber elements around the room. Today the painted finish is very popular as it adds the fresh French touch to any contemporary interior room. The painted finish looks best with a light antiquing to soften the white of the frame. The antiquing can be done lightly or more heavily depending on the look you like.
In our shop we have samples that you can choose from that highlight all the different levels of antiquing available. We also specialise in custom finishes so if there is something unique that you’re after talk to us and we can make special samples for you to take home and consider in your interior.
For the timber finish you may wish to add some gold trim if this is the look you like or for the painted white finish some contrasting grey trim or light blue may be the look your after. If you’re not sure about contrasting trim we can show you samples where the trim is done lightly in a soft subtle rub-through or where it is more pronounced.
The upholstery can also be customized. The back can have loose cushions or be fully upholstered. The upper timber frame can be fully covered in fabric or left exposed depending on the look you like. If you choose to have the back cushions loose it is always easy to remove the cushions and use the daybed as a spare bed as the depth is considerable giving it that extra level of comfort.
The upholstery also has a number options which you can choose from.
Obviously the fabric you choose will have a great impact on the look of the daybed. If you’re after a more casual or conservative look you may wish to choose a simply linen or light damask. If the daybed is for a formal lounge then choosing a dressier fabric will have a significant impact on the overall look, and gthe daybed can become a stand out feature of the room.
Here in these lounge rooms a fresh light linens has been used to give a casual elegance and a more traditional damask has also been used to give a richer look.
