Custom Made French Furniture here in Sydney

August 24, 2021

The most exquisite French style furniture is often custom made specifically for the home. We pride ourselves on keeping this beautiful tradition alive. Creating stunning French and Hamptons custom furniture is an exciting and creative process. Christophe aims to create pieces that are always elegant, breathtaking and unique. Here we show you some of the beautiful and different design Jean-Christophe has made in recent times and look at the design philosophy he had behind each piece.

This custom-made buffet was designed for a Victorian Terrace home in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. It’s been designed in three sections with a middle part called the breakfront which comes forward. This adds to the elegance of the custom design. The top of the buffet has out signature style pelmet with top mouldings and ornamentation. This pelmet section crowns the furniture piece and brings the whole structure together. The doors feature Louis 15 style curved recessed panels that mirror each other on each side creating lovely lines and gracious curve effects. These mouldings have been finished in a contrast antique white trim to stand out against the light grey taupe. The custom-made piece of furniture is a statement but also soft and relaxed adding to the homely feeling of the renovated terrace and the beautiful pink stucco wall behind.

This lovely floor to ceiling custom-made cabinet and bookcase above was also for a Sydney terrace. Christophe has designed in to be completely built in as if part of the original architecture. It features classic features such as corbels above the fireplace and here the double pelmet atop creates a grand and impressive touch as it integrates perfectly into the ceiling. The custom design features a triple reeding design with square ornament in the corner that is repeated throughout. This accentuates the height of the piece and gives it an art deco quality that suited the home at large. The custom piece if finished in antique white whit no patina so that its fresh and able to resonate with the modern Hamptons style interior throughout the home.

A custom made vanity is a wonderful opportunity to transform the bathroom. This custom made French provincial bathroom vanity and cabinetry offers a refreshing and classic look. Once again, the pelmet area at the very top features a double pelmet that integrates into the ceiling cornices in a classical traditional an elegant way. This design feature extends the height of the overall furniture piece giving it beautiful proportions and elegance. Each section of the custom vanity also is divided into panelled sections with mouldings to create structure and design feature throughout. The doors feature I recessed moulding with chrome handles and antique white painting. A large space is left for the mirror to open up the space and allow light to flood throughout the room.

This white painted entertainment unit with cabinetry above has been custom designed to blend well with French modern and Hampton style furniture in a coastal apartment. It is painted in plain white to give it that modern fresh feel. It doesn’t feature any of the recessed mouldings or reading or elaborate pelmet cornices like the custom-made furniture pieces above. Instead, it is a simpler more modern design that doesn’t detract too much from the interior but allows for a lot of decoration upon the shelves in a contemporary fresh way.

These custom-made furniture pieces show how versatile the French Hamptons style can be. They also show how glorious it can be to have a piece of furniture custom designed built and installed it allows for greater design freedom and more refined intricate details that can embellish the room in integrate with your interior seamlessly.
