We custom design and make sofas that are unique, beautiful and comfortable. Our custom designed sofas are completely unique one off pieces. Head designer Jean-Christophe designs the sofa according to the clients’ taste and interior. The sofa designs are made for the modern interior and lifestyle but are truly inspired the elegance of the French style daybed.
In this sofa a beautiful scalloped motif was used to create flowing elegant curves on the top of the back of the sofa. The armrests are tapered to add refinement to the design and comfort for the arms to rest. Instead of using three large sofa cushions at the back echoing the seat cushions, five large pillow type cushions have been used and placed overlapping each other. The fabric for each cushion has been done in an alternating pattern to create interest and richness with the other fabrics in the room.
In this setting two sofas were needed to sit side-by-side accompanying two armchairs, which have been upholstered in a contrasting blue batikesuqe linen. As this home was coastal the sofas were positioned to maximise the view through the windows and a light airy fresh effect was desired. The depth of each sofa is about one meter in order to create a true daybed for comfort and maximum space. The size is according to your needs in 2, 3 or 4 seater configuration.
The style of these sofas is both modern, French and reminiscent of the Hamptons style. The Hamptons style is perfect for the Australian lifestyle and utilizes casual elegant fabrics with touches of blue to echo the ocean.
The fabric used to upholster the two sofas is a two-tone grey linen, cotton blend that is very soft, textured and thick. This makes it ideal for upholstering sofas as it’s easy on the eye, but durable regarding wear and any marks that may appear over time will not be readily obvious.
A key feature of these sofas is the studding. The studding around the edge of the sofa creates a focal point on the sofas. The studs allow the eye to travel along the beautiful curves at the top of the sofa and then down the sides and along the front. The studs here are in silver to match the greys in the fabric but the studding can be done in any colour or depending on the effect you want.
To match these gorgeous sofas we made a coffee table with light antiquing and grey trim on the rosettes to echo the sofa fabric. This finish is also repeated on the side tables and hall tables. The coffee table top is a white/grey marble that works perfectly with the lounge setting.
